Lombard Street is famous for its droopy curves, and it's a significant tourist attraction. The street is known as the ‘crookedest’ street in the city, with eight hairpin turns. It’s best to experience the street by driving down, but you can also enjoy the scenic beauty while walking to the bottom.
Alcatraz Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. It’s regaled for its rich history and for serving as a military prison in the late 1800s and early 1900s. You can take a scenic boat trip from the Island Landing in Fisherman's Wharf to the iconic island. Note that bookings are extremely limited.
Fisherman's Wharf is a world-famous destination for seafood and lively nightlife. Along the pier, you can grab some fresh Dungeness crab, clam chowder, and sourdough bread while taking a stroll. The area is also packed with interesting museums, souvenir shops, and street performers to enjoy.
If you have additional time, some other activities to consider include visiting the Coit Tower, enjoying the view of the city from Twin Peaks, exploring Chinatown, or indulging in some great wine at Napa Valley. If you have less time, we recommend dropping Lombard Street from your itinerary. It's best to start your trip to Alcatraz Island early in the morning to avoid the rush. Similarly, it's best to visit Fisherman's Wharf before lunchtime to avoid the crowds.
