2-Day Kerala Volunteer Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary
    40 minutes (16.8 km) from Calicut International Airport

    The Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is an ornithologist's paradise and home to over a hundred species of birds, including Whimbrels, Terns, and Gulls. You can take a stroll along the banks of the Kadalundi River and spot some of the rare migratory birds that visit during the winter months. The sanctuary also has a mangrove forest and is a breeding ground for many fish species. You can volunteer to clean up the sanctuary and help maintain the ecological balance of the area.

  2. Day 2: Elephant Rehabilitation Centre
    2 hours (75 km) from Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary

    The Elephant Rehabilitation Centre is a safe haven for abused and abandoned elephants, providing them with proper care and rehabilitation. You can volunteer to help the staff with taking care of the elephants, such as bathing them, feeding them, and even taking them for walks. The centre also educates visitors about the plight of elephants in India and how they can be protected.

Useful Tips
