Start your journey by heading from Chennai to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Shore Temple, a stunning example of ancient rock-cut architecture that dates back to the 8th century. Also, explore the Pancha Rathas, five monolithic temples that are named after the Pandavas from the Mahabharata.
Drive to Mudumalai National Park, a pristine wildlife sanctuary that borders Karnataka and Kerala. Enjoy a day of wildlife spotting and bird watching on the jungle safari. The park is home to a variety of flora, fauna, and avian species, ranging from tigers and elephants to peacocks and eagles.

The highlight of the gardens is the fossil tree, said to be more than 20 million years old.
Start your day by driving up Doddabetta Peak, the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills. Enjoy panoramic views of the valley below from the observation tower. You can even see the Mysore plateau on a clear day. Later, head to the tea museum to learn about the history of tea plantations in the region and taste some of the best tea in India.
End your trip by visiting the Pykara Falls, a beautiful waterfall that is famous for its crystal-clear waters. Enjoy a leisurely picnic and take a dip in the cool waters of the Pykara River. You can also take a boat ride on the Pykara Lake, which is located nearby.
If you have more time, consider visiting the St. Stephen's Church, Thread Garden, and Stone House in Ooty. If you have less time, skip Mudumalai National Park and spend an extra day exploring Mahabalipuram or Ooty. Don't forget to bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
