Start your journey early in the morning and make your way towards Castle Rock Railway Station, from where you can take a train to the Dudhsagar falls. The train journey from Castle Rock to Dudhsagar takes around an hour, passing through the beautiful Western Ghats. Once you reach the falls, take a dip in the refreshing water or just sit back and soak in the magnificent views of the cascading waters. You can also take a trek to the vantage point near the falls for a bird's eye view of the area. Stay overnight in a nearby resort or tent.
Wake up early and visit the Tambdi Surla Temple, situated around 30 km from Dudhsagar falls. The 12th-century Shaivite temple is built entirely of black basalt and is a masterpiece of ancient Indian architecture. Marvel at the intricate carvings on the walls and pillars of the temple and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. On your way back to Bangalore, make a quick stop at the Mollem National Park to spot some wildlife. The park is home to a variety of animals including the Bengal tiger, leopard, and black panther. Reach Bangalore by late evening.
Add an extra day to your trip if you wish to explore the Mollem National Park in detail. If you have less time at hand, skip the Tambdi Surla Temple and explore the Dudhsagar falls in more detail. Carry light snacks and water bottles on your train journey as there are limited food options available on board.
