Begin your luxurious trip to Mekedatu by exploring the wilderness of the Muthathi Forest. A serene and peaceful location as the Kaveri River flows around it, you can take a jeep safari or indulge in some bird watching. Nothing matches the experience of being surrounded by nature in its full glory!
In the evening, visit the place that gives Mekedatu its name: "goat's leap." A striking rocky gorge where the river flows ferociously before calming down into "Sangama" or the "meeting point" of the Kaveri and Arkavathi rivers. This picturesque location is a photographer's dream come true, and there are boating facilities available at the Coracle Boating center too!
End your day with a visit to Chunchi Falls, which offers a breathtaking view of the cascading waterfall amidst nature. Enjoy a dip in the natural pool, bird watch, or just relax near the falls and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee. The perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate.
On the second day, visit the famous Shivanasamudra Falls. Enjoy the view of the two waterfalls, Gaganachukki and Bharachukki, formed by the Kaveri River. If you're lucky, you might get to see the surrounding forests that make for an ideal trek amidst the greenery, flocks of birds, and wildlife!
End your 2-day luxury trip to Mekedatu on a cultural note, with a trip to the Silk Weaving Factory. There, see the world-famous Mekedatu silk saree and the local silk weavers' ingenious craftsmanship. Indulge in some souvenir shopping or just appreciate the legendary Mekedatu silk trade.
If you have more time, we recommend visiting the Ranganathaswamy temple in Mysore, which is a 2-hour drive from Mekedatu Falls. Similarly, the Chunchanakatte Falls and Talakadu are other falls that you can incorporate into your itinerary.
If you have less time, consider leaving out the Silk Weaving Factory and opting for a nature walk at Mekedatu instead. This trip is heavily reliant on personal vehicles, so it's best to avoid relying on public transport.
