Krishnagiri Dam is the most popular tourist attraction in Krishnagiri. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours relaxing, boating, and enjoying the picturesque landscape. After the Dam visit, head to the nearby Shiva temple (2.1 km from the Dam) to see the magnificent Dravidian-style architecture and intricate murals. The temple is a peaceful spot to learn about Hinduism and get blessings from the resident priests.
Start the day early and head towards Rayakottah Fort (9.5 km, 25 min) located on the top of a rocky hill. The fort was built in the 16th century by the Vijayanagara empire and has great historical significance. From Rayakottah, drive towards Kelevarapalli Dam (18.7 km, 35 min) to experience a lovely water body, thrilling boating, and tranquil surroundings. The Dam is surrounded by hills and lush greenery, providing excellent opportunities for photography and birdwatching.
If you have more time, visit the nearby Kurubarapalli dam, Government museum and Krishnagiri Fort. In case of less time, choose between Shiva temple and Kelevarapalli dam based on your interests. Krishnagiri has pleasant weather throughout the year, but it's best to avoid the summer months from March to June. Carrying a jacket for chill weather is advisable as its climate is a bit colder than other South Indian places.
