Early morning, visit the remarkable Virupaksha Temple, the oldest and the principal temple in the ruins of Hampi. Acquaint yourself with the legends and stories behind the sculptures and inscriptions. Next, head to the Vittala Temple, known for its stunning architecture and the iconic stone chariot. After lunch, spend the afternoon exploring the magnificent Achyuta Raya Temple, another architectural masterpiece dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Start your day with a visit to the Elephant Stables, a fascinating structure that housed the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. Next, explore the Queen's Bath, a unique bathing complex with a stunning blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. Continue your journey to the Lotus Palace, also called the Kamal Mahal, an exquisite and complex design that is now partially destroyed but still worth a visit. Wrap up the day by witnessing the beautiful sunset from the Matanga Hill.
On your final day, hit the streets of Hampi's vibrant flea market, also known as the Hampi Bazaar. Experience the local life and indulge in some street food and shop for souvenirs. After this, head towards the Monolith Bull, a stunning carving of Nandi, Lord Shiva's mount. Finally, drive to the Tungabhadra River for a peaceful and serene ending to your visit.
With more time, add a visit to the Hemakuta Hill Temples, the Coracle Boat Ride, or the Underground Shiva Temple. For less time, skip the Hampi Bazaar and Monolith Bull. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing as there will be a lot of walking. Do carry enough water and sunscreen during the day as the temperatures can be high.
