The Munnar tea gardens are a sight to behold. The sprawling tea plantations spread out over hills and valleys as far as the eye can see. Take a guided tour of the tea-making process and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea. The tea gardens are also a great spot for a picnic or a scenic hike.
If you love nature, you can't miss the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to over 35 species of mammals, including elephants, tigers and leopards. You can also take a boat ride on the Periyar Lake which is surrounded by lush green forests and the misty hills of the Western Ghats. The sanctuary also offers guided trekking and camping options.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Alleppey Backwaters which is a unique network of canals and lagoons that offer a serene boat ride through the countryside. Alternatively, you can visit the Silent Valley National Park which is known for its diverse flora and fauna.
If you have less time, you can skip the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and instead visit the Athirappilly Waterfalls which is a stunning waterfall located amidst lush forests.
