Start your journey on the rooftop of Leh with a visit to the **Leh Palace**, a magnificent nine-story palace that boasts grand halls, intricate woodwork, and splendid views of the city. Then, head to the **Shanti Stupa**, a stunning white-domed stupa that offers magnificent panoramic views of Leh. The stupa also features tranquil gardens, vibrant Buddhist murals, and a small museum.
Begin the day with a trip to the **Magnet Hill**, a strange and fascinating phenomenon where a vehicle's engine can be turned off while it still appears to be moving uphill against gravity. Then, visit the **Spituk Gompa**, a beautiful 15th-century monastery decorated with vibrant murals and sculptures. The monastery also houses a collection of ancient texts, masks, and weapons.
If you have more time, consider visiting attractions such as **Pangong Tso Lake**, a serene, exceptionally scenic lake; **Nubra Valley**, an enchanting valley crossed by the Nubra and Shyok rivers; or **Alchi Monastery**, an ancient monastery renowned for its exquisite murals and frescoes. If you have less time, you can skip Magnet Hill, Spituk Gompa, or both to allow for more time to explore Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. Also, note that many attractions in Ladak close during winter.
