Start your journey with a visit to the Marudamalai Hill Temple, one of the most popular Hindu temples in Coimbatore. Afterward, head towards Tamil Nadu’s famous coastal town, Mahabalipuram. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Arjuna's Penance and admire the beauty of the Sea Shore Temple. Then, proceed to Chennai, and take a trip to the Kapaleeswarar Temple which has been in existence since the 8th century. End the day with a stroll around the famous Marina Beach.
Start with a scenic drive to Muttom Beach, which is a pristine beach in Kanyakumari. You can witness a stunning sunrise here. Visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial accessible by Vivekananda Kendra ferry. Also, find the famous Thiruvalluvar Statue, the 133-feet-tall stone monument depicting the 133 chapters of Thirukkural, atop a rock on the Indian Ocean. End the day with a mesmerizing sunset over the Arabian Sea.
Visit the popular Varkala Beach in Varaka, known for its stunning cliffs facing the Arabian Sea. Enjoy the view from the Anjengo Fort or go for a swim in the shallow waters of the beach. In the evening, witness the vibrant sunset while enjoying fresh seafood at the many restaurants lining the beach.
If you have additional time, you can visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus in old Goa on the way from Mahabalipuram to Chennai. You can also add a visit to the Thirparappu Falls near Kanyakumari. If your trip is shorter, consider omitting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial from Day 2's itinerary. Be sure to dress conservatively while visiting temples, wear comfortable walking shoes, and stay hydrated in the coastal climate.
