Two-Day Itinerary to Vaishnodevi Mandir

Thursday August 31: Arrival in Jammu

Welcome to Jammu! Start your journey by arriving at Jammu Airport or Jammu Tawi Railway Station. From here, you can take a taxi or hire a car to reach Katra, the base camp for Vaishnodevi Mandir. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, covering a distance of around 50 kilometers. Once you reach Katra, check-in to your hotel and freshen up.

In the morning, energize yourself with a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, begin your trek to Vaishnodevi Mandir. The trek is about 12 kilometers long and usually takes around 4-6 hours, depending on your pace. The path is well-paved and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, you'll come across various stops like Banganga, Charan Paduka, and Adhkuwari.

In the afternoon, take a break at one of the rest stops to enjoy a packed lunch or light refreshments. Continue your trek to reach the holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi. Spend some time in prayer and seek blessings from the deity.

In the evening, start your descent back to Katra. You can choose to walk or hire a pony or palanquin for the return journey. Once you reach Katra, relax at your hotel and have a hearty dinner.

Friday September 1: Explore Jammu

In the morning, visit the magnificent Raghunath Temple, dedicated to Lord Rama. This temple complex comprises several shrines and is one of the largest temple complexes in North India. Seek blessings and admire the intricate architecture.

For the afternoon, head to the Bahu Fort, located on the banks of the Tawi River. Explore the fort and enjoy panoramic views of the city from its vantage point. Visit the Bahu Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, located within the fort premises.
