Also known as Ramakrishna Beach, R.K. Beach is the perfect spot to kick-start your trip to Visakhapatnam. Take a morning stroll along the picturesque coastline, dip your feet in the Bay of Bengal waters and enjoy the views of the Eastern Ghats. Visit the INS Kursura Submarine Museum, which is a real decommissioned submarine turned into a museum.
Yarada Beach is a secluded, serene beach with soft sand, surrounded by hills on three sides and the Bay of Bengal on the fourth. You can also go on a trek to the Dolphin's Nose, and enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline and the port city from the hilltop.
The Simhachalam Temple is an ancient temple, overlooking the city, dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple has a stunning architecture, wood carvings, and a beautiful landscape with waterfalls and gardens. Later, head to Kailasagiri Hilltop Park, a beautiful park, which has some breathtaking views of the city and the Bay of Bengal. You can take a cable car ride or walk along the walking path to reach the top.
If you have an extra day, visit the Borra Caves, a natural limestone cave formation, which is a two hour (90 km) drive from the city. You can also add the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, which houses over 1,000 species of animals, birds, and reptiles. If you have less time, skip Yarada Beach or Dolphin's Nose, and choose one among Borra Caves or Indira Gandhi Zoological Park alternatively. Don't forget to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes.
