Vaishnodevi Mandir is a spiritual and cultural center situated in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Vaishnavi. Devotees have to take a 13.5 km walk from Katra town to reach the temple. You can also hire a pony or palanquin to assist in the journey. The terrain is hilly, and the views are breathtaking. Upon reaching the temple, you will be greeted by beautiful architecture and sculptures. The atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual, and the temple is the epitome of Hindu beliefs and culture.
Shivkhori is a beautiful and naturally-formed cave temple situated in the Reasi district. The temple has a natural shivling shape, and its surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. This temple is also dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most revered shrines for Hindus. You can also enjoy trekking and nature trails in the Reasi district. The journey to this temple is long and tiring; however, it's totally worth it.
If you have more time, you can visit more temples and other cultural sites in the Katra and Reasi districts. Conversely, if you have less time, you can choose to visit only one of these two temples in the two-day itinerary. It is advisable to carry comfortable walking shoes, hats, and sunglasses as the terrain in both the shrines is hilly and sunny.
