Kozhikode Beach, also known as Calicut Beach, is a popular family friendly attraction situated on the Malabar Coast of Kerala. The beach offers a picturesque view of the sunset, along with various activities like camel rides, horse rides, and boating to the nearby islands. The beachside restaurants serve fresh seafood, especially the famous Kozhikode Biriyani. The beach of Kappad, where Vasco da Gama first stepped into India, is located only 16 km away from Kozhikode Beach.
Thusharagiri Waterfalls, situated in the Western Ghats, is a picturesque destination perfect for a family day trip. The waterfalls cascade down the hills creating a beautiful landscape. Visitors can also hike along the river, swim in the waterfalls’ pool, or enjoy a picnic amidst the lush green surroundings. Do carry a change of clothes as you may get wet while swimming under the waterfalls. The destination is closed during monsoon season from June to September.
If you have more time, you can visit the nearby Kappad Beach where Vasco da Gama first stepped into India. It is advisable to carry comfortable shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a change of clothes while visiting Thusharagiri Waterfalls.
