Meenmutty Waterfalls lies amongst the lush Western Ghats, a 2 km walk from the main road followed by a scenic trek through the forest. At a height of around 300 meters, it's the largest and the most magnificent waterfall in Wayanad. The trek to the falls is easy, but it's not recommended to visit them during the monsoon season when they are at their peak flow.
The Edakkal Caves are famous for their rock art, the oldest of which dates back to more than 5,000 years. The climb to the caves is quite steep, but breathtaking views of the valley below make it worthwhile. The caves are closed on Mondays and on Holidays.
The Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of mountains and forests. It offers boating facilities in the reservoir, and trekking routes that lead to the nearby hills. Open all days from 9 AM to 5 PM, except on Mondays and Public Holidays.
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a variety of endangered and rare wildlife species, including tigers, elephants, leopards, bears, and many more. It is open all days from 7 AM to 10 AM and 3 PM to 5 PM, except on Wednesdays and during the monsoon season from June to August.
If you have more time, you can also include a visit to the Thirunelli Temple or the Jain Temple at Sulthan Bathery. If you have less time, you could skip the Edakkal Caves and add a visit to the Pookode Lake, an enchanting natural freshwater lake offering boating facilities.
