The park has visitors center, where you can learn about the history and geology of the Potomac River. You can also raft or kayak on the river (Note that this activity is seasonal and is only open from May to September).
Soar through the treetops at Empower Adventures in Middleburg. The 20-acre adventure course will make you feel like Tarzan, as you zip-line at 60 mph over the trees. Empower adventures cater to newbie and experienced zip-liners alike. After the adventure, you can quench your thirst at the nearby Chrysalis Vineyards and Winery.
Explore the historic city of Baltimore with tours of its iconic landmarks and civic institutions. Begin at the Baltimore Museum of Art, where you can enjoy artworks from local and global artists. Then visit the Edgar Allan Poe House before heading to Fort McHenry National Monument. The tour ends at the National Aquarium, one of Baltimore's leading attractions.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Shenandoah National Park. If you have less time, you can skip the Edgar Allan Poe House and the National Aquarium. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water.
