Vienna has an excellent public transport system with buses, trams, and metro. Purchase the Vienna City Card for 24, 48, or 72 hours to enjoy unlimited travel on public transport and discounts on attractions. Taxis are also readily available but can be expensive. Expect to spend around €5-10 per trip.
If you have more time, explore the Schönbrunn Palace, the House of Music, or take a walk in the Naschmarkt. For a day trip, visit the Wachau Valley or the Vienna Woods. If you have less time, reduce the time spent at Hofburg Palace, and visit the nearby Austrian National Library. Advanced reservations are recommended to skip the long queues at popular attractions.
Vienna International Airport (VIE), also known as Schwechat Airport, is Austria's largest airport, located 18 km southeast of Vienna. The airport has excellent transport connectivity with City Airport Train, buses, and taxis. It takes around 16 minutes to reach the city center via City Airport Train, and the one-way ticket costs €12.
