Kanthaloor is a small village located in the Idukki district. Start your morning at Kanthoor junction and head towards the Kanthaloor Valley Viewpoint. The viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the valley with apple orchards, pine forests, and tea estates. Then, visit one of the tea estates in the region and relish on some freshly brewed tea. Take a stroll around the garden to see the tea leaves being plucked.
Dedicate your second day to explore Marayur, renowned for its sandalwood forests and ancient dolmens. Visit the Jain Temple, one of the oldest temples in Kerala, dating back to the ninth century. After the temple, proceed to the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, an ecotourism hotspot for nature lovers. Here, you can go on a trek or hike with the help of a guide. The sanctuary is home to several endangered species like the Indian elephant, spotted deer, and langurs.
If you have more time, you can visit the Kanthaloor waterfall and indulge in a picnic. For history buffs, there is an Ancient Dolmens site near Marayur. If you have less time, you can visit either the Kanthalloor Valley Viewpoint or the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Alternatively, you can cover Marayur and the Jain temple, followed by tea tasting at Kanthaloor.
