Edakkal Caves dates back to the Neolithic Age and has prehistoric etchings drawn all over the walls. Its inscriptions, a blend of proto-historic and Indus Valley Civilization language cannot be translated into any familiar script. It is considered to be one of the earliest centres of human habitation.
Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, attracts many trekkers for its beautiful heart-shaped lake. This peak boasts a breathtaking view of the majestic Western Ghats. The trekking path to the peak is splendid, scattering through lavish greenery and rolling hills.
The Wayanad Heritage Museum has an exceptional collection of artifacts and is divided into 4 galleries; the Archaeology, the Wood and Metal Craft, the Sculpture and the Paintings. Its rare collection of historical artefacts, including the prehistoric human skeletons, jewelry, hunting tools, etc., were discovered during excavations in and around Wayanad.
Kuruva island is situated amidst the tributaries of the River Kabani providing an idyllic space for tourists with its breathtaking lush greenery, tranquil streams and diverse flora and fauna. This protected river delta boasts of a variety of fauna such as rare species of birds, orchids, herbs, and butterflies.

Alternatively, if you have less than 2 days, you can choose to visit either Edakkal Caves or the Wayanad Heritage Museum. Please note that it is always best to book tickets in advance and carry water and snacks during the trip.
