Starting at 1 am, embark on a challenging yet rewarding hike up to the summit of Adam's Peak, also known as Sri Pada. The trail winds through tea plantations and forests before reaching the 5,200 steps to the top. As the sun rises, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site. The descent can take around 3-4 hours and can be steep in some areas, so take it slowly and watch your footing.
Experience the thrills of white water rafting on the Kelani River, surrounded by lush jungle and stunning landscapes. Led by experienced guides, navigate through rapids ranging from easy to challenging, and enjoy the rush of adrenaline with each rapid. The entire experience lasts for around 2-3 hours and includes a safety briefing, training, and all necessary equipment. After the rafting adventure, relax and unwind at a nearby café or take a swim in the river.
If you have more time, consider adding an additional day and exploring the nearby Udawalawe National Park on a jeep safari. Or, if you have less time, skip the white water rafting and spend the day exploring the historic Dutch Fort of Galle on the southern coast. Make sure to dress appropriately for the hike up Adam's Peak and bring plenty of water and snacks. Also, check the weather forecast beforehand and avoid climbing if there is heavy rain.
