Doddabetta Peak is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills at 2,637 meters. Enjoy a beautiful drive up the winding road through tea plantations to the top for panoramic views of Ooty. The peak is covered with dense sholas and patches of stunted tropical montane forest. You can also enjoy a hot cup of tea at the Tea Cafe on the way down.
Ooty Lake is a man-made lake located at the center of Ooty. It is surrounded by groves of Eucalyptus trees and is a popular spot for picnics, paddle boating and fishing. Walk along the lake, rent a paddle boat or sit under one of the shaded benches to relax and enjoy the views.
Avalanche Lake is a serene lake hidden deep within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The lake is surrounded by a rolling landscape of mountains and dense forests. It is a great spot for birdwatching, hiking, camping and fishing. There is a 10 km trek from the forest check post to the lake that is a must-do for adventurous travelers.
Masinagudi Jeep Safari takes you through the Mudumalai National Park or Bandipur National Park. You can spot exotic wildlife such as tigers, elephants, leopards, gaurs, and many other species. The safari takes about 3 hours and is a thrilling experience for animal lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
If you have additional time, consider visiting the Government Botanical Garden and the Ooty Rose Garden. If you have less time, skip Masinagudi Jeep Safari and opt for a shorter jungle trek for wildlife sightings.
