Explore the Portuguese fort built in the early 17th century. The lighthouse offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and Mandovi River. The fort is surrounded by a moat and has the capacity to host around two hundred people. An ideal picnic spot, Fort Aguada lures travellers with its mysterious underground passageways and prison.
Popular with backpackers, Anjuna Beach is a colourful place with a rocky coastline and stunning sunset views. Known for hosting the full-moon parties, the beach is surrounded by dense palm groves replete with hammocks. Take a refreshing swim in the sea waters, engage in some water sports or enjoy the beachside volleyball. On Wednesday mornings, you can hit the vibrant Anjuna Flea Market.
You can't miss a visit to the UNESCO-listed church, the Basilica of Bom Jesus. The church is dedicated to the Infant Jesus and the remains of St. Francis Xavier are preserved here. The interiors are decked up with marble floorings, gilded altars and carved wooden panels. If you are interested in history, check out the museum in the church complex.
If you have more time, visit Dudhsagar Falls, try out a kayaking tour or a romantic sunset cruise along the coastline. If you have less time, you can skip the Fort Aguada and add in a spice plantation tour or visit the Mangueshi Temple.
