Fort Kochi, located in the city of Kochi, is a historic trading hub with a rich cultural diversity. The main attractions are the centuries-old Chinese fishing nets, the St. Francis Church, and the Dutch Palace. Visitors can take leisurely strolls around the streets and visit cafes and art galleries. A highlight is the Kathakali Dance performance at the Cochin Cultural Centre.
Munnar is a hill station famous for its tea plantations. The Eravikulam National Park is a must-visit where visitors can witness the rare Nilgiri Tahr in its natural habitat. The Mattupetty Dam is another popular attraction where visitors can enjoy boating in the calm waters. Visitors can also take a tour of the tea plantations and factories to learn about the process and sample some of the freshest tea. The tea museum and the Rose Garden are also worth exploring.
If you have more time, add Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary or Kochi backwaters. If you have less time, skip the Rose Garden or Mattupetty Dam. It is recommended to book tickets for the Kathakali Dance performance in advance. Comfortable walking shoes and light clothing are recommended for strolls in Fort Kochi and Munnar.
