Start your day with a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad. The 3 km long trek has a heart-shaped lake, named "hridayathadakam" en route. The trek up the peak takes around 3 hours, but the view from the top is worth the effort.
The Pookode Lake is a freshwater lake surrounded by lush green forests and hills. Enjoy a peaceful boat ride, spot some wildlife around the lake, and shop for souvenirs in the nearby stalls. A perfect lunch spot in the vicinity is Spice Garden.
The Edakkal Caves are natural caves in the Western Ghats that have prehistoric inscriptions, ancient petroglyphs, and cave drawings of human and animal figures. A small trek will take you to the caves, and the location offers a scenic view from the top.
The Soochipara Falls, also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, is a three-tiered waterfall with a natural pool at the bottom. You can enjoy an ice-cold dip in the water or enjoy the view of the cascading water from a distance while enjoying the sunset.
This itinerary includes popular and scenic locations in Wayanad in the given time frame. However, if you have more time, you can include the Kuruva Island, Thirunelli Temple, and a visit to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have less time, you can omit the Soochipara Falls and plan a visit to a tea plantation like the Tea Town Kerala.
