Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over 1,100 square kilometres. Enjoy a boat ride, spot some migratory birds, or taste some fresh seafood. You may hire a boat to go to the dolphin-spotting zone. Winter months are the best time to visit for bird-watching.
Raghurajpur is a quaint little village of artisans, situated amidst coconut and palm trees. The village has lent its name to a unique style of Pattachitra painting. Watch the artists work and purchase the intricate paintings or some beautiful palm-leaf handicrafts as souvenirs.
Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the grandest temples of India. Built in the 13th century, the temple is designed as a chariot of the Sun God, with twelve pairs of wheels representing the cosmic cycles. Marvel at the impressive stone carvings, and learn about its fascinating history.
Take a leisurely walk along the Beach Road, the long stretch of golden sand with the Bay of Bengal on one side and the quaint hotels and cafes on the other. Enjoy the beautiful sunset over the ocean.
If you have more time, you may add a visit to Puri Beach, Lokanath Temple, or Gundicha Temple. You may subtract the visit to Chilika Lake and take a walk around Puri bazaar to taste some local delicacies like Dalma, Khaja, or Rasagolla instead.
