The fort, made of sandstone, appears to have a golden hue in the sunlight. The fort has several Jain temples, Havelis, and shops with local artefacts and handicrafts.
Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India, provides a spectacular view of Jodhpur city and the surrounding area. Its museums hold a collection of impressive artefacts, royal palanquins, paintings, and weapons. The fort has numerous events such as music and cultural performances.

If you have more time, you can visit the nearby Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, or Umaid Bhawan Palace. If you have less time, you can skip some of the museums and galleries in the forts. Avoid visiting Jaisalmer Fort during the monsoon season as most of the shops and restaurants remain closed.
