The Ooty Botanical Gardens are spread across 22 hectares and offer a varied collection of flora, including rare species of trees, shrubs, and flowers. The park has an impressive rose garden with more than 20,000 varieties of roses. The park also has an Italian garden, a fern house, and an orchid house to explore.
The view from Doddabetta Peak is breathtaking, and it's one of the highest peaks in South India, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding regions. Located at a distance of about 10 km from Ooty, the peak is surrounded by dense forests and lovely flora and fauna.
The Sim's park is a botanical garden that showcases plants from all over the world. It is uniquely designed on the lines of a Japanese-style garden and has terraced gardens, tunnels, and fountains, which add beauty to the landscape. This park is famous for its collection of rare trees and the special annual fruit and vegetable show held in May.
The Pomological Station situated in Ooty hills in 23 acres is the repository of fruits like pomegranate, grapes, apple, peach, plum etc. Scientists from all over the world visit this place to study about fruits.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Ooty Lake and St. Stephen's Church. If you plan to stay a day or two more in Coonoor, you can visit Law's Falls and Dolphin's Nose for some exciting views. If you have less time, you can skip Pomological Station and spend more time in other places.
