Start your journey by driving to Masinagudi, a small town nestled amidst the Nilgiri ranges. Go for the Jungle Safari and spot tigers, leopards, and other wild animals. Take a trek to Bandipur National Park and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Stroll trees and see different fauna at Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
Visit Hogenakkal Falls, a breathtaking waterfall on River Kaveri. Hire a coracle, a circular bamboo boat with a waterproof covering, and experience the changeable water pressure while taking a dip with or without a life-jacket. The neighbouring village offers a simple lunch of fish fry and fish-curry meal. Visit the nearby Mettur Dam, the largest dam in Tamil Nadu, and enjoy the sunset with a pleasant breeze from the reservoir.
Drive to Ooty, located in the Nilgiri Hills. Enjoy a leisurely Toy Train Ride in the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway that passes through scenic landscapes and hills. Visit Doddabetta Peak and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings. Take an off-road Jeep Safari to the Bellikkal Lake.
If you have extra time, you can also visit Coonoor, a neighbouring hill station. Enjoy some street food in Masinagudi. You could add a visit to the Pykara Lake and Falls to your Ooty itinerary. If you have less time, skip Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary or Bellikkal Lake. Remember to check the weather before visiting the locations and to keep hydrated during the trip.
