Kerala's Nature Trip: Kochi, Munnar and Vagamon

  1. Day 1: Kochi's Historical Places
    Approximately 45 km (1hr 20min) from Cochin International Airport

    Start your journey by visiting the magnificent Fort Kochi Beach - where Vasco da Gama first landed. Explore around the famous Chinese Fishing Nets, the historic St. Francis Church, and Santa Cruz Basilica. Spend some time walking around Bolgatty Palace Island. In the afternoon, visit the Paradesi Synagogue Museum which offers a deep insight into the Jewish heritage and history. End your day by bar-hopping in Princess Street, known for its diverse cuisine and nightlife.

  2. Day 2: Munnar's Tea Gardens and Waterfalls
    Approximately 130 km (4hrs) from Kochi

    Drive to Munnar, a scenic hill-station well-known for its tea gardens, waterfalls, and wildlife. Visit the exotic Munnar Tea Museum and learn about tea processing and history. Trek around the stunning Attukad Waterfalls and Mattupetty Dam. If time permits, visit the Eravikulam National Park, home to many endangered species, including the Nilgiri Tahr. Stay overnight in a cottage within tea estates.

  3. Day 3: Vagamon's Mountains and Temples
    Approximately 45 km (1hr40min) from Munnar

    Take a morning drive to Vagamon, a picturesque hill-station, known for its scenic meadows, hills, and religious sites. Start with a visit to the ancient Thangal Para Mosque, known for its sacredness. Stop by the beautiful Vagamon Meadows - a vast spread of greenery with numerous trekking options available. In the evening, visit the magical Kurisumala Hill Monastery, which is renowned for its divine calmness and beauty.

  4. Day 4: Kerala's Backwaters
    Approximately 70 km (2hrs) from Vagamon

    Drive to Alleppey, the "Venice of the East," known for its extensive network of canals, lagoons, and backwaters. Enjoy an amazing houseboat ride in these serene backwaters with traditional Keralite meals. Discover the local life of the fishers, artisans, and farmers residing in small hamlets along these canals. End your day by watching a mesmerizing sunset over the Arabian Sea.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, we highly recommend visiting Thekkady's wildlife sanctuary, located between Munnar and Kochi, and participating in their unique Elephant Safari. If you have less time, you can skip Vagamon and spend some more time in Alleppey's backwaters or go shopping in Kochi's local markets.
