Start your day by visiting the Mysuru Palace, this majestic structure is one of the most visited tourist sites in India. Originally built in the 14th century, the palace features Hindu and Muslim architectural styles. Take a guided tour to learn more about the history of the palace and the Wadiyar dynasty.
Spend some time among the lush greenery of Brindavan Gardens, located on the banks of the Kaveri River. Spread over 60 acres, the garden features symmetrical patterns, illuminated fountains and a boating area. The gardens are especially beautiful at sunset, so consider staying until the evening to enjoy the musical fountain show.
Head over to Hotel RRR for a mouthwatering South Indian meal. Known for its biryani and kebabs, this restaurant is a local favorite. Don’t forget to try their signature drink, the masala soda!
Visit St. Philomena’s Church, one of the largest churches in India. The church features neo-Gothic architecture, intricate stained glass windows, and a crypt that contains the relics of Saint Philomena. You can also learn about the history of the church through the display of artifacts and photographs.
Head to the Chamundeshwari Temple, located on top of Chamundi Hill. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Chamundeshwari and features intricate carvings, colourful paintings and a 40-metre high entrance tower. Climb up the more than 1,000 steps to the top and enjoy the panoramic views of Mysuru.
End your day by visiting the Mysuru Zoo, home to a wide range of exotic animals and birds. See the white tiger, Indian rhino, and African elephants, among other creatures. It’s a great place for families and there’s a lot to learn about the animals through the informational displays and signs.
If you have more time, you can visit other attractions such as the Railway Museum or the Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery. If you have less time, consider skipping Brindavan Gardens or the Mysuru Zoo. Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated throughout the day.
