If you have an extra day, consider exploring Shawnee Wine Trail, a stretch of vineyards and wineries along the rolling hills of the Shawnee National Forest. For nature enthusiasts, Southern Illinois offers plenty of other natural attractions like Giant City State Park, Cave-In-Rock State Park, and Dixon Springs State Park. However, if you have less than two days, consider cutting out Garden of the Gods Recreation Area and explore more of Starved Rock State Park. It would also be best to pack your own meals to save time and extra costs.
