Then, drive for 45 minutes to reach the Mattupetty Dam boasting a reservoir, and indulge in water activities like boating and speed boating. The timings are from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. After that, you can go to the Kundala Dam lake, famous for its picturesque surroundings and activities such as boating and horse riding. This lake opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm.
Head to Periyar National Park, a tiger reserve and elephant sanctuary, situated on the banks of the Periyar Lake. You can spot numerous rare species of flora and fauna and indulge in activities like jungle safari and trekking. The park opens at 6 am and closes at 6 pm. After that, visit the Abraham's Spice Garden where you can see a wide variety of herbs and spices. The garden is open from 8 am to 6 pm. You can also add the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre to your itinerary for an evening martial art performance. The show timings are from 6 pm to 7 pm.
Begin the day with a visit to the Kerala Backwaters, one of the most important attractions located in Alleppey. The enchanting backwaters are a network of several lagoons, lakes, and canals. After that, visit the Mullakkal Rajeswari Temple, a famous Vishnu temple with a history dating back to the ancient times of Kerala. The temple opens at 5 am and remains open till 7 pm. For nature enthusiasts, the Alleppey beach is a great place to relax, located just 3 km away from the city center.
If you have more than three days, you can add some additional locations like the Marari Beach or the Vagamon hill station. If you have less time, you should skip places like the Abraham's Spice Garden and Kadathanadan Kalari Centre. It is advisable to rent a car for the trip as there is no direct public transportation between these cities.
