Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India. You can take a speed boat or rowboat ride to the Banasura Sagar Island, which is surrounded by the Banasura hills and full of lush vegetation. It's a great picnic spot with beautiful views. The boat ride is around 20-30 minutes each way.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric cave site with ancient petroglyphs. If you have less time, skip the Banasura Sagar Dam and Island and visit the Pookode Lake for a relaxing boat ride.
