While Tunisia is a small country, it is difficult to cover it all by public transportation. For this itinerary, we suggest renting a car with a driver at the airport, which will cost approximately 550 TND ($200) per day, including fuel and insurance. Road travel is the most popular in Tunisia, and renting a car will give you the flexibility to visit the places mentioned on this itinerary.
If you have more time, we highly recommend visiting the charming blue and white village of Monastir, as well as the remarkable Amphitheatre of El Jem. If you have less time, skip Dougga and go directly to Kairouan to optimize your time.
Tunisia has six international airports, but Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) is the main gateway for most international visitors, with direct flights from most European cities. The airport is located approximately 6.5 km (15 minutes) from Tunis city center.
