Munnar is a breathtaking hill station in Kerala. You will instantly feel rejuvenated by the cool weather and serene beauty of the Western Ghats. Visit the Mattupetty Dam offering a stunning view of surrounding hills and valleys. Echo Point, with its magnetic echo phenomenon is also worth exploring. Enjoy a slow-paced walk in the Tea Museum to know more about the tea-making process. Wind up the day with a cup of freshly brewed tea while enjoying the sunset at the top of the hill.
This morning, we head to Alleppey to experience the backwaters of Kerala. The Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held on the second Saturday of August every year, is one of the highlights in Alleppey. However, for us, a houseboat cruise through the tranquil canals and lagoons of the backwaters will be a perfect way to enjoy the scenery and serenity of this place. Savour the scrumptious lunch served onboard and enjoy the sights of coir making and toddy tapping. End the day relaxing and stargazing on the deck of the houseboat.
If you have more time, you can spend a day exploring the lush green Shola Forests in Munnar or visit the wildlife sanctuary at Thekkady. Do not forget to carry light woollens if travelling in May. If you have less time, you can skip the Tea Museum in Munnar and instead spend more time soaking in the picturesque backwaters of Alleppey.
