Start your trip with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. You can walk around the dam and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding hills, the reservoir, and the lush vegetation. You can go on a speed boat ride or go trekking in the Banasura hills, which are great for adventure enthusiasts, or simply sit and enjoy a picnic by the lakeside.
After a relaxing day by the dam, head to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of animals such as tigers, elephants, leopards, and deer. You can take a jeep safari through the forest and spot these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. The sanctuary also has a rich variety of flora and fauna and is a great place for nature lovers.
On your final day in Wayanad, take a trek to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in the district. The trek to the top is challenging but worth it as you get to see panoramic views of the entire district from the summit. The peak is also home to a heart-shaped lake, and it's believed that the lake has never dried up even during the hottest summers.
If you have more time, you can include a visit to the Edakkal Caves or the Pookode Lake. The caves have rock carvings dating back to the Neolithic Age, and the lake is a great place to go boating. If you have less time, you can skip the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and head straight to the Chembra Peak. Also, make sure to carry plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes for the trek.
