Begin your relaxation journey with a visit to Satsop River, located in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This peaceful river runs through dense trees and moss-covered rocks, making it an ideal place to relax and unwind. You can take a stroll along the shore, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the natural scenery. Just be sure to pack bug spray, sunscreen, and plenty of water, as the area can get hot and humid in the summer.
Next, head over to Ocean Shores Beach, a six-mile stretch of scenic coastline. Take a leisurely walk along the beach, watch the waves crash on the shore, and collect seashells. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can try your hand at beachcombing, horseback riding, or even kite flying. Don't forget to pack snacks and drinks, as there aren't many nearby restaurants or shops.
On day three, explore the stunning Quinault Rainforest, part of the Olympic National Park. This temperate rainforest is home to towering trees, lush vegetation, and plenty of wildlife. You can take a scenic drive, hike one of the many trails, or simply relax and take in the sights and sounds of the forest. Make sure to bring rain gear, as the area receives up to 12 feet of rain each year!
End your relaxation journey with a visit to Westport Light State Park, which encompasses a lighthouse, a beach, and plenty of hiking trails. Take a tour of the historic lighthouse, relax on the uncrowded beach, or explore one of the many hiking trails. The park is also home to plenty of wildlife, from eagles and ospreys to seals and sea lions. Don't forget to pack sunscreen, snacks, and a camera to capture the stunning views!
If you have more time, consider visiting nearby attractions such as Lake Quinault, Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, or Hoquiam Castle. If you have less time, consider skipping Quinault Rainforest and spending a full day at Westport Light State Park. Make sure to check weather conditions and opening/closing times for all locations before visiting, as they can vary depending on the season.
