Start your day with a visit to the Montreux Tourist Office to get a map and learn about different attractions in the city. The office offers information on the best places to visit in Montreux, including the Chillon Castle, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Lake Geneva shoreline promenade.
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, Chillon Castle is a beautiful 13th-century fortress with stunning mountain and lake views. The castle has served as the inspiration for many famous writers, including Victor Hugo. The entry fee to the castle is CHF 12, and you should allocate approximately 2 hours for visiting.
This delightful Montreux Covered Market offers the best of the region's cuisine, including locally sourced cheeses, souvenirs, smoked sausages, spices and bread. The market is an excellent place to experience local flavors and ingredients, and is open from 7am-7:30pm daily from Monday to Sunday.
The Freddie Mercury Statue is dedicated to the legendary lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury, who had a long association with Montreux. The statue is located on the Lakeside Promenade and is an ideal place to take a selfie and to enjoy the views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.
The Montreux Jazz Cafe is located in the heart of the Montreux Palace Hotel, which offers a breathtaking view over Lake Geneva and the mountains. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and barista-prepared coffee. The cafe also displays jazz memorabilia, as well as original artwork from famous jazz musicians.
If you have more time, we recommend exploring the picturesque Old Town of Montreux. Another option is to take a leisurely boat ride and enjoy the breathtaking view of the French Alps or going on a hiking/cycling trail.
