Sankagiri Fort was built in the 15th century by the Vijayanagara kings. It was later rebuilt by the British in the 18th century. The fort is located on a hill and offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. Visitors can explore the fort and the small temple inside. It takes around an hour to explore the fort.
Vellode Bird Sanctuary is a great place to observe migratory birds and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake. The sanctuary is spread across 77 hectares and has over 100 bird species. Visitors can take a boat ride in the lake and spot various birds and animals. It takes around 2 hours to explore the sanctuary and enjoy the boat ride.
Kodiveri Dam is a beautiful place to spend a day amidst lush greenery and serene waters. The dam is located on the Bhavani river and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills. Visitors can go on a boat ride, indulge in fishing and enjoy a picnic by the lakeside. It takes around 3-4 hours to enjoy all the activities and explore the dam area.
If you have more time, you can explore more places in Erode such as Thindal Murugan Temple, Brough Church and Perumpallam Dam. If you have less time, you can skip the boat ride at Vellode Bird Sanctuary or Kodiveri Dam.
