Transportation

Most major cities in Thailand are well-connected by air, with cheap flights available between destinations. Alternatively, travelers can get around by train or bus. Taxis and tuk-tuks are also readily available in most major cities. Travel costs can range from as little as $5 for a short taxi ride to over $100 for a long-distance flight.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider visiting other popular destinations such as Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, or Koh Tao. If you have less time, consider skipping one or two destinations and spending more time in others. Although Thailand can be visited year-round, the best time to visit is between November and February when the weather is cooler and drier.

Airports

The main airport in Bangkok is Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), located about 25 kilometers from the city center. Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is the main airport in northern Thailand, and Phuket International Airport (HKT) serves the southern part of the country. All three airports have good transportation connections to nearby cities and destinations.
