Start your trip to Goa with a visit to Anjuna Beach which is famous for its palm trees lining alongside the turquoise Arabian sea. Indulge in the serene surroundings, rent a sunbed, and relax with a chilled beer in your hand. Explore the local vendors and buy souvenirs. Enjoy the fresh seafood served at the shacks overlooking the beach.
Visit the Fort Aguada, which was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese to protect against Dutch and Marathas. Enjoy the scenic view from the lighthouse and spend time in the old jail that has now been converted to a museum. There is also a freshwater reservoir providing water to the ships, built within the fort to ensure the safety and hygiene of the sailors.
Experience the natural beauty of the Dudhsagar Waterfall which is located on the Mandovi River. The name, Dudhsagar, means "Sea of Milk" because of the milky white water droplets that fall from a height of 1017 feet. Take a walk through the spice plantations and enjoy local food. It is recommended to book through a registered tour operator as the waterfalls are located in the forest.
Fontainhas is the oldest Latin quarter of Panaji, the capital of Goa. Take a walking tour to the different coloured Portuguese-style houses with wrought iron balconies and red-tiled roofs. Visit the Fontainhas Heritage Walk or the Sao Tome Saint Sebastian Chappel. Enjoy a taste of the local cuisine at the restaurants.
If you have more time, you can take a boat ride on the Mandovi River, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus or try your luck at one of the offshore casinos. If you have less time, you can skip Fontainhas and add the beaches of Morjim and Vagator in your itinerary. Remember to carry sunscreen and comfortable footwear.
