Exploring Thiruvanamalai

Day 1: Thiruvanamalai
  • Morning: Start your day by visiting Annamalaiyar Temple, one of the largest temples in South India dedicated to Lord Shiva. It opens at 5:00 AM, so try to reach as early as possible to avoid the crowd and witness the beautiful Sunrise from the temple.
  • Afternoon: Head to Sri Ramana Ashram, located at the foothills of the Annamalai hills, which is the abode of the famed sage Sri Ramana Maharshi. Spend your afternoon meditating and seeking peace at the ashram, which is surrounded by lush greenery and scenic landscapes.
  • Evening: End your day by witnessing the grandeur of the Arunachala Hill, which is considered sacred and is worshipped as Lord Shiva himself. You can either trek to the hill or hire a cab to take you to the top of the hill. Witness the serene Sunset from the top of the hill and soak in the beautiful views of the town.
