Start the day early at the Triveni Ghat, a sacred spot where three rivers – Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati – converge and worshippers come to perform their morning rituals. Watch the locals taking a dip in the river and perform their puja. Also, take a boat ride to the other side of the river and visit the Gita Bhawan Ashram, which is located amidst scenic surroundings and ideal for meditation and yoga.
Next, head to the iconic Lakshman Jhula Bridge, which is a popular landmark and a great spot for photography. The bridge is suspended over the Ganges river and connects two villages. Cross the bridge on foot and visit the many cafes and shops located here. After lunch, take a dip in the refreshing waters of the Ganges and experience the feeling of spiritual cleansing.
End the day at the Neer Garh Waterfall, a picturesque waterfall that offers a serene ambiance. Take a dip in the natural pool at the waterfall and relax amidst the beautiful surroundings. You can also try out some local snacks and street food sold by the vendors.
Start the day with a visit to the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, which is situated on the banks of the Ganges and promotes spirituality, yoga, and meditation. Attend the morning aarti and witness the magnificent sight as hundreds of diyas float along the river. You can also take part in the yoga and meditation programs conducted here.
Next, head to the Beatles Ashram, a place that became famous after the Beatles stayed here for a few months in the late 1960s. The ashram is now abandoned and covered in graffiti, but it is an interesting place to visit. You can also participate in some art workshops conducted here.
End your Rishikesh trip with a visit to the Rajaji National Park, which is home to several species of flora and fauna, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. Take a jeep safari or go for a nature walk in the park and explore the wilderness. Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the wildlife in their natural habitat.
If you have more time, you can explore other attractions in and around Rishikesh, such as the Trimbakeshwar Temple, Jumpin Heights Adventure Park, and the Rishikund hot spring. However, if you have less time, you can skip the Beatles Ashram or Rajaji National Park. Remember to carry comfortable clothing and footwear, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle. As most attractions close by early evening, plan your itinerary accordingly.
