This thousand-year-old fort, with its location at the foot of the Altit village, stands as a landmark of the former glory of the Hunza Kingdom. Witness the crystal-clear Attabad Lake which was formed due to a natural disaster in 2010. Before the disaster, the valley was known for its Gojal Lake, but the disaster blocked the Hunza river and created this stunning lake. Rent a speedboat and capture the amazing views of the Hunza Valley, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, and explore the series of small villages surrounding the lake.
If you have extra time, you can visit the beautiful Khunjerab Pass, which is the border between Pakistan and China. However, it's 4 hours away from Hunza, so plan your time accordingly. If you have less time, you can omit the Altit Fort and replace it with a visit to the Dupatta Valley, which has stunning views and is an excellent place for hiking, taking photographs and experiencing the natural beauty of Hunza.
