Mullayanagiri Peak is the highest peak in Karnataka with an altitude of 1,930 meters above sea level. Enjoy breathtaking views as you hike to the summit. The trek is moderate with a well-defined route. You can hire a local guide or go solo. Avoid the monsoon season as the trail becomes slippery and visibility is poor.
Belavadi is a historical village known for its Chennakesava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Accurately reflecting the Hoysala period, this temple is famous for its intricate carvings and sculptures. The premises also include other small shrines and a tank. Take your time to explore the village and witness the laid-back rural life.
Baba Budangiri is a sacred mountain range where both Hindus and Muslims go to find solace. The place is famous for its shrine of Dattatreya, a saint, and for its beautiful rolling hills. After visiting the Darga, take a short walk to the nearby Manikyadhara Falls, a perfect spot to cool off and enjoy the scenery. The walk to the falls is less than a mile from the Darga.
If you have more time, you can extend your stay in Chikkamagaluru and explore surrounding areas like Sringeri, Horanadu, etc. If you have less time, you can skip any of the above places and visit attractions close to your hotel. Make sure to pack comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and plenty of water as you will be doing some walking and hiking. Also, carry cash with you as not all places accept credit cards.
