Two-Day Family Friendly Cochin Itinerary in May 2023

Day 1: Fort Kochi
  • Morning: Start your day early with a visit to the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations. Take a stroll through the Jew Town streets and check out the unique shops selling souvenirs, antiques, and spices.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy a delicious lunch at Fusion Bay, a restaurant that serves a mix of Indian and Western cuisine. After lunch, visit the Mattancherry Palace, also known as Dutch Palace, which has beautiful murals and exhibits artifacts portraying the lifestyle of the Cochin Royal Family.
  • Evening: Wind down your evening with a majestic sunset view at the Chinese fishing nets. These nets are a popular tourist attraction and an iconic image representing Cochin. Satisfy your taste buds with a different street food at Marine Drive street food stalls, or simply enjoy a relaxing stroll.
Day 2: Backwaters
  • Morning: Head to the backwaters, a network of interconnected canals, lagoons and lakes. Start your day with a two-hour boat ride from Alleppey, which will take you through serene waters and lush green fields.
  • Afternoon: During your boat ride, enjoy the fresh catch of the day cooked on board, while experiencing the natural beauty of Kerala. Afternoon can be spent at the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, home to many migratory birds including Siberian stork, egret, darter, heron, teal, and waterfowl.
  • Evening: Wrap up your two-day getaway with a visit to the Cochin Cultural Centre, where you can watch a Kathakali performance, Kerala's traditional dance form. The performance is accompanied by Carnatic music, and the beautiful costumes and timeless narratives will leave you mesmerized.
