Marienplatz(Mary's Square) is home to two stunning sights in München: the Neues Rathaus and the Glockenspiel. The Neues Rathaus is an iconic Gothic-style construction with a towering clock and figurines that are part of the Glockenspiel - an everyday mechanical spectacle whose bells chime twice daily. Behind the Rathaus tucked away in a corner is the Viktualienmarkt - an open-air market with over 140 stalls selling flowers, fruits, veggies, cheeses, meats among other things.
Nymphenburg Palace is a Baroque palace that was once Munich's summer dwelling of Bavarian rulers. The site encompasses a variety of small palaces, museums, galleries, and a famous renowned park. A stretch of the palace is now a museum that showcases the structure, its architecture, Baroque interiors, and ancient artwork. The palace interiors are beautiful and feature multiple baroque halls and fountains. Nymphenburg is a favorite spot to take a peaceful break from the city’s hustle with its lush gardens, shady trails, and ornamental lakes.
