Begin your adventure by scaling the Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka. The trek is exhilarating and the view from the top is breathtaking. The peak is covered in lush forests and has several streams along the way. At the peak, there is a small temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The climb takes around 3-4 hours both ways, but the panoramic view and the fresh air is worth every effort.
The Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Surrounded by mountains, the wildlife sanctuary has a diverse range of flora and fauna to witness. The sanctuary is home to tigers, sloth bears, leopards, and several species of birds. The Annapurneshwari Temple on the banks of the Bhadra river inside the sanctuary is another highlight. Visitors can also take the boat ride along the Bhadra river.
Explore the Kemmanagundi and its cascading waterfalls amidst the high hills and coffee plantations. Enjoy the scenic views from Z point, trek to the Hebbe falls or take a dip in the natural spring water pool at Kalhatti falls. The Raj Bhavan in Red gardens and Shanti Falls are other attractions worth visiting. Kemmanagundi is an excellent place to relax and enjoy nature.
The Kudremukh National Park is a breathtaking coastal mountain range that is perfect for adventure seekers. The park is ideal for trekking, camping, and wildlife spotting. The park is also a significant catchment area for several rivers and tributaries. The trek to Kudremukh peak is demanding, but it’s worth it. There are several waterfalls, streams, and trekking trails in the park.
If you have more time, you can go to the Coffee Museum and hire a bike to explore coffee plantations. You can also visit Mullayanagiri Baba Budangiri Hills and Nandi Hills. If you have less time, you can go to Kemmanagundi and Mullayanagiri Peak for one day only.
