Banasura Sagar Dam, located in the midst of lush greenery and mountains, is India's largest earthen dam. The view from the top of the dam is breathtaking, and there are many water-related activities, such as boating, kayaking, and speedboating, available for a fee. You can also hike up to the Banasura Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding nature.
Ooty Lake is located in the heart of Ooty and is a popular tourist spot. You can take a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There are also many shops and stalls selling local handicrafts, and delicious food along the lake. Do not miss the toy train ride in the Nilgiri mountains which passes through tea estates and mountainous terrains, a must visit for honeymooners.
Edakkal Caves are two natural caves located on Ambukuthi Hills. These caves have unique and ancient carvings, and are a must visit for history buffs. The climb up to the caves can be a bit strenuous but it is a worth to visit because at the top, you will get mesmerizing views of the surrounding areas. Afterwards, you can indulge in some shopping of spices and tea at the nearby markets.
If you have more time, you can visit other popular tourist attractions in Wayanad such as the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, Soochipara Waterfalls, and Pookode Lake. If you have less time, we recommend visiting Ooty Lake and the Edakkal Caves as they are a unique and refreshing tourist attraction.
