Start the day with a visit to the Brihadeeswara Temple, which dates back to the 11th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and boasts an impressive architecture with a massive Nandi statue and beautiful frescoes. Afterward, ride your motorcycle to the Thanjavur Royal Palace and Art Gallery that showcases the Chola and Nayak rulers' history. Lastly, head to the Saraswathi Mahal Library, which is home to over 30,000 rare books and manuscripts.
Start the day by heading to the Javadi Hills, located on the way to Yercaud. Here you can enjoy the beautiful scenery as you ride to the Killiyur Falls. Next, make your way to the Pagoda Point, which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and Salem city. Finally, ride your motorcycle to the Yercaud Lake, which is famous for boating, and go on a relaxing boat ride alongside the beautiful mountains.
If you have more time, you can visit the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple complex, which was constructed in the 11th century and is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, you can stop by the Salem city on the way to Yercaud and explore some of its popular attractions, such as the Kottai Mariamman Temple, Poiman Karadu, and Mettur Dam. If you have less time, you can skip the Thanjavur Royal Palace and Art Gallery or the Javadi Hills. However, we highly recommend visiting all of the sites mentioned above if possible, as they offer a unique glimpse into South Indian culture and history.
